August 21st, 2023: It was a wet, hot, creature girl summer! For our second event, Juice Box invited friends to summer camp. But not just any summer camp, Creature Camp! Participants split up into different teams aka “cabins” of up to six people. Upon arrival at our meeting point, campers were given hand-printed canvas backpacks replete with water, snacks, stickers, and most importantly- a list of roughly 80 different tasks to try and complete around North Brooklyn within a four hour window.
Tasks varied in silliness, severity and price, ranging from tattoos, singing karaoke, feeding pigeons, street dance parties, and open-mic stand-up. Each task was assigned a different point value depending on difficulty level. Campers were also given the opportunity to elevate their cabin’s status in the game by trying to win special bonus point titles. These included tasks like “most mullets,” “most amount of spotted lantern flies killed,” and “weirdest dog.”
The Camp Creature scavenger hunt didn’t have many rules, but the ones we did have were key.
1. You cannot split up into separate teams to divide and conquer.
2. Unless designated otherwise, your entire team must partake in the tasks.
3. Everything must be documented via photograph or video.
At 6:30pm, campers gathered at a secret backyard location for an afterparty full of ceremony and celebration! We awarded all of the teams for their standout accomplishments (best dressed, biggest dance party, etc.) before crowning our fearless winners. In addition to the awards ceremony, the afterparty consisted of separate game and craft-based activity stations like shirt printing, headband-making, corn hole and temporary tattoos.
